Survive a Psycho How to Take Down the Psycho
Turn a 20-player lobby into one spoken commit instead of staggered deaths.
Stopping the hunter is the other full clear
Survive a Psycho survivors can win by lasting three minutes or by taking the Psycho down. This guide focuses on the stop: when to call it, how to build a cluster, and how Capri or Adam Smasher changes the shape of the fight.
Timer-first players should keep Survive 3 Minutes open. Beginners should finish Getting Started before forcing knockouts.
The only commit worth making
A real commit needs three parts in one sentence:
- Where the hunter is
- How many survivors can reach that spot now
- Whether the stop is shorter than the clock — then go or run
If the fourth teammate is still crossing the map, the three who are ready should usually stall unless the hunter is already stuck. Staggered heroes are free food.
Building a cluster without stacking a coffin
Travel as loose pairs in the opening and middle bands. A pair can cover two sides of a route. When the hunter tunnels your partner, decide whether the nearest group should collapse now or keep the clock. Collapsing late, one player at a time, turns a winnable middle band into a cleanup for the Psycho.
Useful shapes:
- Two pairs approaching from different angles
- One caller who can keep the hunter on screen without being the last body
- A reset path if the hunter slips past the first touch
Avoid a single doorway pile. One swing clears everyone.
Class jobs during a stop
- Call: fastest reliable camera — often PC
- Commit: Lucy or David rolls that can afford contact — see tier list
- Stall insurance: at least one player stays ready to protect the clock if the stop fails
Soldier can still commit when the count is real. Capri rolls must remember chip risk even during a knockdown plan.
Scenario overlays
Standard hunter
Marketing copy stresses how little mercy the hunter gives. Do not expect a free reset after a sloppy first chase. Fix the count, not your courage.
Capri
Knockdown and chip pull can hand the hunter role to a survivor. Name the puller before the fight. After the pull, announce the holder and spread. Full rules: Capri chip.
Adam Smasher
Nonstop pressure punishes corridor stacks. Use two arcs and leave clock players aside. Full rules: Adam Smasher.
Call examples you can paste into chat
- “Hunter storage, three here, go.”
- “Only two on them — run clock.”
- “Capri down, I pull — spread.”
- “Smasher mid, two arcs, clock left.”
Short calls work on mobile keyboards and noisy voice chats.
Mistakes that throw take-downs
| Mistake | Result | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Private hero plan | Staggered downs | One caller |
| Counting people still rotating | Fake cluster | Count only arrivals now |
| Trophy chip pass | New Capri in your stack | Announce and reset |
| All-in corridor on Smasher | Wipe | Two arcs + clock |
| Ignoring timer entirely | Failed stop = full loss | Keep insurance stallers |
Practice plan
- Spend two nights calling without committing — learn counts.
- Spend two nights committing only on someone else’s live call.
- On Capri days, rehearse puller assignment before contact.
- Review Players so you know what your spin is good at.
- Check Updates after patches for scenario text changes.
Related tools and rewards
Free spins improve the body you bring into a commit — free spins. Typed codes are not active yet. Scripts are optional research and never required for a spoken go-call.
Take-downs feel cinematic, but the skill is boring on purpose: one sentence, one cluster, one reset path. Say the stop, or play the clock. Survive a Psycho punishes lobbies that try both in silence.
